Essar Steel Earns Caterpillar's Platinum Award
May 25, 2012 Essar Steel has been awarded the Platinum Award, the highest award in Caterpillar's Supplier Quality Excellence Program (SQEP). The company had previously won the Bronze Award in 2008 followed by the Gold Award for two consecutive years in 2009 and 2010.
Caterpillar’s SQEP certification recognizes Essar Steel’s performance as a strategic supplier of steel plates globally to Caterpillar and for achieving the highest level of excellence. Essar Steel has been supplying steel plates to Caterpillar since 2001. The award also validates Essar Steel’s usage of Six Sigma methodologies for continuous and sustainable improvements through the initiatives of Essar Manufacturing Excellence.
Essar Steel has been approved to supply plates to all the manufacturing plants of Caterpillar across the globe.
Earlier this year, Essar Steel won the Gold Award in the large scale category at the FICCI Quality System Excellence Awards 2011, organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
Essar Steel, a 14 million tonnes-per-annum global producer of steel, is a fully integrated flat carbon steel manufacturer with a presence in Canada, the U.S., India and Indonesia. It has an integrated distribution business with Service Centers and Steel Hypermarts, and operates seven Service Centers in India and Indonesia with an aggregate capacity of over 4 million tonnes.
