Hertwich Engineering Helps Commission Lines for Qatalum Project
May 11, 2010 Qatar Aluminium Ltd. together with Hertwich Engineering successfully commissioned three homogenizing and sawing lines for the Qatalum project, under an order from Fata SpA of Italy.
The scope comprises two continuous homogenizing lines complete with ultrasonic inspection stations, one batch homogenizing line, and three sawing and packing plants, for combined net production of 355,000 tonnes per year (cut to length, saleable billets).
Following installation in 2009, the two continuous homogenizing lines started production in February 2010. The batch homogenizing line is under commissioning, set to start production in May 2010. The three lines are combined into one fully automated production plant.
