May 17, 2012 - Severstal Resources Mining Division will supply Rautaruukki’s production facilities with coking coal and iron ore pellets for the next three years.
Outotec to Supply Emission Optimized Sintering for Indian Project
May 16, 2012 - Outotec has been selected by Bhushan Power & Steel Ltd. to design and deliver technology, including its Emission Optimized Sintering process, for a new iron ore sintering plant to be built in Rengali in the state of Orissa, India.
RG Steel to Restart L-Blast Furnace at Sparrows Point
May 15, 2012 - RG Steel issued a release that on May 12 the company was to restart its L Blast Furnace at Sparrows Point. The L Blast Furnace had been shut down on May 9 as scheduled for a routine maintenance outage.
SAIL to Explore Development of Mines, Steel Manufacturing in Mongolia
May 15, 2012 - Indian Maharatna Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Mineral Resource & Energy of the Government of Mongolia at Ulaanbaatar, for exploring business opportunities in the mining and steel sectors, including a joint pre-feasibility study.
NLMK Commissions Hot Metal Desulphurization Unit at Lipetsk
May 14, 2012 - NLMK has commissioned a 5.8 million tonnes-per-year, two-station hot metal desulfurization unit at its main site in Lipetsk. The project was implemented together with ESM (USA) and investments totaled around RUR1.5 billion.
Outotec to Supply Filtration Technology for Serra Azul Facility Expansion
May 14, 2012 - Outotec and Brazilian mining company MMX Mineração e Metálicos S.A. have signed a contract to deliver filter technology for the expansion of the Serra Azul iron ore processing facility in Minas Gerais, Brazil.
Siemens to Supply PCI Plant for Sahaviriya Steel's Redcar Blast Furnace
May 3, 2012 - Siemens VAI Metals Technologies has received an order for a pulverized coal injection plant from Sahaviriya Steel Industries (SSI) UK. The plant will be constructed for the SSI blast furnace in Redcar, Northeast England, and is scheduled to come into operation in the latter part of 2012.
ArcelorMittal May Further Increase Production at ArcelorMittal Mines Canada
Apr. 30, 2012 - Results of a scoping study have allowed ArcelorMittal has identify the potential to increase annual production of iron-ore concentrate to 30 million tonnes per annum at its ArcelorMittal Mines Canada using the facility’s existing infrastructure system.

Metinvest Prepares to Launch PCI at Ilyich Steel
Apr. 10, 2012 - Ilyich Iron & Steel Works of Mariupol is close to finishing the construction and erection works and installation of the power system to support the PCI (pulverized coal injection) plant. In early May, the company plans to test the facility, and in July, process tests with injection of the fuel in blast furnaces are scheduled.

SAIL Inaugurates Emission-Free Coke Batteries at Bokaro
Mar. 27, 2012 - SAIL Chairman CS Verma recently inaugurated two rebuilt coke oven batteries at the Bokaro Steel Plant of Maharatna Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL). He also inaugurated the Coil Packaging Line-2 of the new cold rolling mill as well as the Centre of Excellence.
Kobe Steel to Invest in Southdown Iron Ore Project in Australia
Mar. 23, 2012 - Kobe Steel, Ltd. has reached agreement with trading firm Sojitz Corp. to take a 33% equity share in Sojitz Resources & Technology Pty Ltd. By acquiring these shares in Sojitz, Kobe Steel will indirectly hold a 9.9% interest in the Australian Southdown iron ore project.
Essar Commissions Two Relocated Corex Units
Mar. 21, 2012 - Essar Steel India recently commissioned two Corex C-2000 plants originally supplied by Siemens VAI Metals Technologies and relocated from Korea to India at the Hazira steelworks. The plants have been modernized by Siemens with new special equipment and automation systems.
Posco Honors ThyssenKrupp Uhde's Plant Construction Business
Mar. 6, 2012 - Posco has named ThyssenKrupp Uhde “Supplier of the Year” for a second time. The award acknowledges, in particular, the successful supply and commissioning of a new 2.8 million-tonne-per-year coke oven plant in Gwangyang.
