Siemens Furnace Switchgear Achieves Rated Currents of 4,500 Amperes
May 11, 2012 - The Simetal Sivac-X 4K furnace switchgear from Siemens has reliably switched a rated current of more than 4,500 amperes with a single circuit breaker in the test laboratory during the course of a successful type test according to IEC 62271. The switchgear has a rated voltage of 40.5 kilovolts, and can supply EAFs with power up to 300 MVA.
SMS Siemag, SMS INNSE to Upgrade ACERINOX Meltshop
May 9, 2012 - ACERINOX, Palmones, Spain, has awarded SMS Siemag and SMS INNSE S.p.A. a contract for the modernization of the electric arc furnace and the supply of an AOD converter vessel, respectively.
Tenova Supplies Consteel EAF to Jiangsu Heavy Industry
Apr. 30, 2012 - Tenova achieved the first heat of the melting unit for MCC Beris Jiangsu Heavy Industry Corp. - Feida Group in China: a medium and heavy plate casting-rolling production line. The technology combines Tenova electric arc furnace and Consteel® with other technologies from Beris.
Siemens to Modernize NatSteel Finger-Shaft Electric Arc Furnace
Apr. 27, 2012 - Siemens VAI Metals Technologies has received an order from NatSteel Holdings to modernize the finger-shaft electric arc furnace in its Singapore Works. The project involves installing a new FAST system, renewing the furnace shaft and the lower shell, and bringing the automation of the arc and ladle furnace up to state-of-the-art.
SMS Siemag to Supply Electric Furnace, Ladle Furnace for PT Gunung
Apr. 27, 2012 - PT Gunung has contracted SMS Siemag for the supply of an ARCCESS® electric arc furnace and ladle furnace for the new steelmaking plant complex in Bekasi, Indonesia. The furnaces are rated for an annual production of 1.2 million tonnes.

Mar. 29, 2012 - Mechel OAO announced the resumption of smelting operations at its Ductil Steel Otelu Rosu plant in Romania.
Harsco Awarded New Contract for Alfa Acciai Mill in Brescia
Mar. 12, 2012 - Harsco Corp. has been awarded a new six-year contract for steel mill services at Alfa Acciai Group’s Brescia steel mill in northern Italy. Harsco will develop and manage a new scrap yard and provide services for processing the mill’s EAF slag.
Mechel Reports Suspension of Smelting at Otelu Rosu
Mar. 12, 2012 - Mechel OAO reports that the company has temporarily halted smelting production at its Otelu Rosu facility due damages to the facility’s EAF when slag and steel leaked through the unit’s inner lining.
Tenova Re Energy to Supply Hyundai Steel with Irecovery Systems for Two EAFs
Mar. 7, 2012 - Tenova Re Energy has signed a contract with Hyundai Steel for the supply of two iRecovery systems for the company’s plant in Incheon, South Korea. They will help to recover lost heat from the off-gases of a 90-ton EAF and an 80-ton EAF.
Siemens VAI to Supply Simetal Quantum EAF for Talleres y Aceros
Feb. 13, 2012 - Siemens VAI Metals Technologies has received an order from Mexican steelmaker Talleres y Aceros S.A. de C.V. to supply a new compact steelmaking plant with a capacity of 1.2 million tons of steel per annum for its Ixtaczoquitlan site.
