AIIS: U.S. Steel Exports Rise in March but Remain Below 2012 Levels
May 9, 2013 - Steel exports increased in March 2013 over February 2013 by 6.1% based on government reporting analyzed by the American Institute for International Steel (AIIS).
AISI: Import Market Share in U.S. at 23% in April
May 1, 2013 - The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that steel import permit applications for the month of April total 2,576,000 tons. This was a 3% decrease from the 2,650,000 permit tons recorded in March but up by 4% from the March preliminary imports total of 2,476,000 tons. 
AISI: Preliminary U.S. Steel Imports Decrease 1% in March
Apr. 26, 2013 - The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that the U.S. imported a total of 2,476,000 tons of steel in March, including 1,967,000 tons of finished steel (down 1% and up 4%, respectively, vs. February final data).
Canadian Agency Launches Trade Investigation into Silicon Metal from China
Apr. 24, 2013 - The Canadian International Trade Tribunal today initiated a preliminary injury inquiry into a complaint by Québec Silicon Limited Partnership that it has suffered injury as a result of the dumping and subsidizing of silicon metal from the People's Republic of China.

AISI: Approval of Windsor Bridge Permit is "Great News" for Steel
Apr. 15, 2013 - The U.S. State Department issued a permit approving the construction of a new bridge connecting Detroit and Windsor in Ontario, Canada, which will enhance industry competitiveness and facilitate intra-NAFTA trade, the American Iron and Steel Institute says.
AIIS Says U.S. Port System Needs Dredging and Maintenance
Apr. 10, 2013 - The American Institute for International Steel (AIIS) is urging Congress to action on a pressing need to pass the Water Resources Development Act, with a particular focus on the provision that would require the full expenditure of funds collected under the Harbor Maintenance Fee (HMF) for the purpose for which it has always been intended — dredging and maintenance of the country's blue and brown water ports.
SEAISI: Apparent Steel Consumption in ASEAN Region Rose 7.6% in 2012
Apr. 9, 2013 - According to the South East Asia Iron & Steel Institute (SEASI), apparent steel consumption in the ASEAN region (Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam) is estimated to have surged by 7.6% y-o-y to 56.4 million tonnes in 2012.
America's Infrastructure Receives D+ in 2013 Report Card
Apr. 8, 2013 - America's infrastructure received a D+ grade in the 2013 Report Card for America’s Infrastructure released by the American Society of Civil Engineers — up just slightly from a D grade in 2009.
