Gerdau Employees Are Industry Champions of North America at Global Steel Competition
Feb. 28, 2013 - Richard Zhang and Kyle Cormier, employees at the Gerdau steel mill in Whitby, Canada, were industry champions of North America and won second place in the World Steel Association’s 7th annual Steel University Challenge, which took place on 19 February in Brussels, Belgium.
Gerdau Reports 2012 Results
Feb. 25, 2013 - Gerdau said its shipments declined 3% in 2012 due to the slowdown in China and other emerging countries, the European crisis, and uncertainty over the fiscal policy of the U.S. Despite lower economic activity in Brazil, the area was highlighted as an area of growth for the company.

Jan. 30, 2013 - Gerdau Long Steel North America, which is working on a US$47 million expansion of its St. Paul, Minn., plant that is intended to retain jobs, is laying off 31 employees, the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal reports.
Gerdau Installing 6,650 Tons of Steel for San Diego's New Central Library
Dec. 28, 2012 - The New Central Library in downtown San Diego, Calif., will have many stories to tell when it is completed in mid-2013. Not only from the books on the shelves, but from the old cars, worn-out appliances and other pieces of scrap metal that were melted and transformed into high-quality rebar for the project.
