March Steel Shipments up 1.3% from February
May 17, 2012 - U.S. steel mills shipped 8,512,825 net tons for the month of March 2012, a 1.3% increase from the 8,407,343 net tons shipped in the previous month according to the latest release from AISI.
Service Center Shipments Show Small Bounce Back in April
May 16, 2012 - April service center shipments of aluminum and steel were up slightly in both the U.S. and Canada, an improvement from the year-over-year declines seen in March, according to the latest report from the Metals Service Center Institute.
worldsteel Releases Short Range Outlook
May 1, 2012 - The World Steel Association (worldsteel) released its April 2012 Short Range Outlook (SRO) for 2012 and 2013, forecasting that global apparent steel use will increase by 3.6% to 1,422 million tonnes in 2012, following growth of 5.6% in 2011. In 2013, world steel demand is forecast to grow an additional 4.5% to around 1,486 million tonnes.
World Steel Association Reports March 2012 Crude Steel Production
Apr. 23, 2012 - Crude steel production for the 62 countries reporting to the World Steel Association was 132 million tonnes (Mt) in March 2012, an increase of 1.8% compared to March 2011. Production for the first quarter of 2012 was 377 Mt, 1.1% higher than the first quarter of 2011.
February Steel Shipments Down 1.1% from January
Apr. 18, 2012 - U.S. steel mills shipped 8,407,343 net tons for the month of February 2012, a 1.1% decrease from the 8,497,932 net tons shipped in the previous month, according to the latest release from AISI.
Metals Service Center Growth Levels Off in March
Apr. 18, 2012 - March service center shipments of aluminum and steel were only slightly changed in both the United States and Canada, with inventory positions also remaining nearly constant in both countries, according the latest report from the Metals Service Center Institute.
Global Stainless Production Reaches New Record in 2011
Mar. 22, 2012 - World crude steel production grew by 3.3% in 2011, reaching a total of 32.1 million tonnes according to the latest report from the International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF). The 2011 total represents a new stainless steel production record for a single year.
February World Crude Steel Production Up 1.9% vs. February 2011
Mar. 21, 2012 - World crude steel production for the 59 countries reporting to the World Steel Association stood at 119.2 million tonnes for February 2012, 1.9% higher in comparison with February 2011 and 2.1% higher than the previous month, January 2012.
Service Center Growth Momentum Increases in February
Mar. 20, 2012 - February service center shipments of aluminum and steel were up sharply from the same month in 2011 in both the U.S. and Canada, with inventory positions remaining constant in the U.S. and deteriorating only slightly in Canada, according the latest report from MSCI.
January World Crude Steel Production Down 7.8% vs. January 2011
Feb. 22, 2012 - World crude steel production for the 59 countries reporting to the World Steel Association stood at 116.7 million tonnes for January 2012, 7.8% lower in comparison with January 2011 and 0.3% lower than the previous month, December 2011.
December ’11 Steel Shipments Up 9.2% from November
Feb. 20, 2012 - U.S. steel mills shipped 8,085,761 net tons for the month of December 2011, a 9.2% increase from the 7,404,828 net tons shipped in the previous month according to the latest release from AISI.
US and Canadian Service Center Shipments Show Year over Year Growth
Feb. 17, 2012 - Shipments from US and Canadian service centers continued to grow on a year-over-year basis in January 2012, according to the latest Metals Activity Report from the Metals Service Center Institute.
