The options may involve a partnership or a sale to a best owner whose strategy can better utilize the plants.

Siemens Furnace Switchgear Achieves Rated Currents of 4,500 Amperes
May 11, 2012 - The Simetal Sivac-X 4K furnace switchgear from Siemens has reliably switched a rated current of more than 4,500 amperes with a single circuit breaker in the test laboratory during the course of a successful type test according to IEC 62271. The switchgear has a rated voltage of 40.5 kilovolts, and can supply EAFs with power up to 300 MVA.

May 10, 2012 - Hitachi Metals, Ltd. has decided to enter into a business relationship with Taiwanese high-grade specialty steel manufacturer Gloria Material Technology Corp. (GMTC) for mutual cooperation in production, sales, technology, and investment. The agreement also extends to a capital tie-up under which Hitachi Metals will acquire the equivalent of 5% of GMTC’s stock.
Siemens to Modernize Main Drives of Aperam's Hot Rolling Mill
May 9, 2012 - Siemens has been tapped to replace the existing DC main drives of the finishing mill at Aperam’s stainless steel plant in Châtelet, Belgium, with more powerful AC systems. The drives will be modernized in seven stages during scheduled annual maintenance stoppages.

Siemens to Supply PCI Plant for Sahaviriya Steel's Redcar Blast Furnace
May 3, 2012 - Siemens VAI Metals Technologies has received an order for a pulverized coal injection plant from Sahaviriya Steel Industries (SSI) UK. worldsteel Releases Short Range Outlook
May 1, 2012 - The World Steel Association (worldsteel) released its April 2012 Short Range Outlook (SRO) for 2012 and 2013, forecasting that global apparent steel use will increase by 3.6% to 1,422 million tonnes in 2012, following growth of 5.6% in 2011. In 2013, world steel demand is forecast to grow an additional 4.5% to around 1,486 million tonnes.

Siemens to Modernize NatSteel Finger-Shaft Electric Arc Furnace
