SAIL Dealers Achieve Record Sales
Jan. 12, 2010 During the first nine months of the current financial year, the Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL) dealer network achieved sales of 417,000 tonnes—a year-over-year growth of 23%—and registered double-digit growth in each of the four regions.
More than 2000 countrywide SAIL dealers mainly market the company’s branded products such as SAIL-TMT and SAIL-Jyoti. Light structural products have also been added to the portfolio in recent months.
In December ’09, sales through the dealer network were a record 116,000 tonnes, according to SAIL, a growth of 210% over December ’08. This contributed to SAIL’s overall domestic sales of nearly 1.4 million tonnes during the month, which grew 32% over December ’08.
During October-December (Q3) ’09, SAIL says it sold a record 194,000 tonnes through its dealer network, showing year-over-year growth of 104%.
SAIL aims to market over 1 million tonnes of branded products through its dealer network during the coming financial year.
