World Corus to Consider Trade Union Proposal at Teesside

Jan. 14, 2010
A productive first meeting of the Teesside Cast Products (TCP) Joint Management and the Trade Union (TU) Task Force was recently held at Teesside, according to the groups.

In the interests of continuing meaningful talks toward securing a positive future for TCP, Corus agreed to consider a TU proposal to extend TCP’s operating program and postpone the partial mothballing to the end of February.

This extension of the operating period would not affect timescales associated with the ongoing HR process, Corus says.

Corus also confirmed its intention to continue operating the South Bank Coke Ovens, following the improvement in market conditions for coke. About 120 additional jobs will be retained at South Bank Coke Ovens as a result.
