Tenova Stainless Steel Line in Service at ThyssenKrupp Terni
Jan. 15, 2010 At the end of last year, Tenova Strip Processing successfully started up the annealing and pickling line (no. 4) for the treatment of both hot and cold rolled stainless steel at ThyssenKrupp Acciai Speciali, Terni, Italy.
ThyssenKrupp Acciai Speciali Terni SpA asked Tenova Strip Processing in mid-2008 to transfer its no. 4 line from Turin to Terni. In addition to the revamping of the plant as a whole and the process section in particular, the project involved a full furnace upgrade to be handled by Tenova LOI Italimpianti.
Tenova notes that the international steel sector crisis caused the project to be delayed and rescheduled. Tenova was recently asked by ThyssenKrupp to shorten its program, and the plant was put into operation six months from beginning of erection—two months in advance with respect to the revised time schedule.
