Hannu Hautala has been appointed Senior Vice President - Tornio Works as of May 2, 2010, at the latest. He will report to CEO Juha Rantanen and will succeed Pekka Erkkilä, who has been temporarily responsible for Tornio Works since September 15, 2009.

Hautala holds a Master of Science in Engineering and Industrial Economics from the University of Oulu. His latest responsibility is managing Elcoteq's Communications Network's global operations with business units in five countries. "I am pleased to welcome Hannu to this demanding position as the head of our biggest business unit,” said Rantanen. “During his career, Hannu has managed plants with several thousands of employees, has international experience, and has spent a big part of his career in the steel industry. He has experience, which we can directly benefit from and I am confident that, together with the Tornio team, they can build our capabilities to meet the needs of our customers."

As announced earlier, Erkkilä is leaving Outokumpu on May 1, 2010, at the latest. His other duties will be shared among the existing Executive Committee members. Rantanen will take over the responsibility for Outokumpu's energy strategy. Deputy CEO Karri Kaitue will be responsible for environment, health, and quality.
