World SSAB Names New Head of Strategy

Feb. 9, 2010
SSAB has appointed John Klint as Head of Strategy and Business Development, a newly created position within the company’s Group Executive Committee. The appointment takes effect May 10.

“We wish to strengthen our resources as regards strategic issues in the Group,” said SSAB’s CEO, Olof Faxander. “John Klint has monitored SSAB over the course of several years in the capacity of Investment Manager at Industrivärden, and I am convinced that he will make a valuable contribution to SSAB’s continued development.”

Klint has previously served as a strategic consultant and partner at Occam Associates and strategic consultant at Razorfish and Cap Gemini Ernst & Young. For the past three years he has been an investment manager at Industrivärden. Klint holds a Master of Science from the Gothenburg School of Economics.

The company noted that it would not be making an appointment to the position of Chief Technical Officer, which is also within SSAB’s Group Executive Committee. The position was previously held by Martin Pei, who currently heads the SSAB APAC business area.

The company is also planning to transfer Group Executive Committee responsibility for R&D to K-G Ramström.

SSAB is a global leader in value added, high strength steel. SSAB offers products developed in close cooperation with its customers to reach a stronger, lighter and more sustainable world.

SSAB employs 8700 people in over 45 countries around the world and operates production facilities in Sweden and the US.
