World Pomina, Thep Viet Steel Group Select Tenova Melt Shops

Feb. 16, 2010
Tenova Melt Shops has been chosen again by Pomina and Thep Viet Steel Group to supply a new melt shop unit with a Consteel® electric arc furnace (EAF). This unit, having 120-tonne tapping size and capable of producing more than 1 million tonnes per year of liquid steel, is said by Tenova to be the largest steel melt shop in Vietnam for long products.

The melt shop is scheduled to be put in operation at the end of 2011 in Phu My Industrial Zone, near Ho Chi Minh City.

This plant will be the second melt shops supplied by Tenova to the Pomina and Thep Viet Steel Group. The first installation of the Consteel EAF was started up in 2007.

Tenova notes that this new Consteel EAF represents a trend in Vietnam, where four of the latest steel projects have selected the technology.

Tenova designs and supplies advanced technologies, products, and services for the metals and mining industries. The company operates close to its customers through a network of 33 companies based on five continents.
