World Outokumpu Restarts Operations in Röyttä Harbor in Tornio

Mar. 15, 2010
Outokumpu announced on March 12 that the operations in Röyttä harbor in Tornio, Finland, have been restarted despite the stevedores strike. The loading and unloading of ships is being carried out with the help of subcontractors.

With this arrangement, Outokumpu says it is able to secure the stainless steel deliveries to customers and the import of raw material. Some customer deliveries are being transferred to railway and road and transported via Sweden.

These arrangements allow Outokumpu to continue the production of ferrochrome and stainless steel and ensure that customer deliveries are carried out as planned. The company expects the financial impact from the strike to be immaterial.
