Baosteel Completes First Export Contract for Cold-rolled Stainless Steel
Mar. 15, 2010 Coordinated by Baosteel Co., Ltd. Stainless Steel Business Unit and Baosteel America Inc., more than 120 tonnes of 304 stainless steel produced by the Baosteel Stainless Steel Cold Rolling Project mill that was recently put into production were shipped to the U.S. on March 7.
This is the first export contract of cold-rolled products after Baosteel Stainless Steel Cold Rolling Project was put into production.
Since Baosteel Co., Ltd. Stainless Steel Business Unit was set up, cooperation with its overseas subsidiaries and Baosteel International has been further enhanced. The company notes that it has set up a rapid response channel geared toward overseas customers, and that "door to door" customer service approaches were implemented to transport the products directly to the warehouse and provide the packaged service including shearing and flattening.
The business unit’s total export of stainless steel products last year was close to 100,000 tonnes, a record high.
The cold rolling line of the Stainless Steel Business Unit's follow-up projects possesses the production capacity for 5-inch-wide material, which is complementary to the cold-rolled products of Ningbo Baoxin.
The business unit relies on Baosteel's overseas marketing network to discover new markets, and to work with Baosteel America to sign the contract for export of 5-inch cold-rolled stainless steel products to the U.S. market.
